Summer & School Movies

July 9, 2015 / Marjorie Larner / What We Can Do

Do you ever miss school during summer break?

I know there’s a lot not to miss–a colleague just wrote me she’s still having nightmares about work–but some mornings, I miss entering the building or walking through the hallways with all the energy and excitement and emotions swirling around or hearing a young person’s excitement over a new idea.

Do you ever want to watch movies just to get a little bit of that energy, even if it is a Hollywood version that is more dramatic, more funny, more concentrated sometimes even more horrifying?

There are so many movies that take place in school, it could take a whole summer to see them all–but then you’d probably never get the break you need.

What about a day of binge watching movies about school with colleagues as a transition when the first day of real school draws near?

For movies from student’s point of view, here are websites with lists of 50–yes, 50! I make no judgements about these lists–chose them for their breadth of choices.

50 best movies as of 2013

The 50 best school movies (2011)
