“Without education you’re not going anywhere in this world.” Malcolm X
I’ve always wondered what Malcolm X was thinking of by ‘education.’ Was he thinking of credentials to get past gateways? I don’t imagine he was thinking of learning that happened at that point in schools (still now). Was he thinking of what he learned in prison that turned his life’s direction?
I think of his quote, “Only a fool would let his enemies teach his children,” and wonder what he would tell us to do now.
When I read words from Malcolm X, I think of my mind and heart continuing to open to new possibilities for understanding and articulating what is going on.
