Catching Myself

May 14, 2015 / Marjorie Larner / What We Can Do

Post # 195 and too much bad news in the world and in school today.  I committed myself to write something positive every day and today I didn’t want to…not at all. I just want to wallow in alternating sadness and anger.

Forcing myself to review the day–what has gotten me down and what I actually experienced today, there was a point of hope.

Some teachers who have been the champions of speaking up and challenging what they see as not good for kids or the school’s mission, are tired of having no effect. They are ready to stop fighting. And now, I see teachers who had not spoken up before are stepping up, speaking up, trying to be heard and impact the direction of a school. Perhaps when a cause is crucial to our dreams, there will always be someone to pick it up so that others can take a rest.
