A dark quote that points to a light I’m seeing in schools where teachers and students resist false narratives about what is evidence of learning that matters, what is evidence that teachers deserve to get paid for effective instruction, what principals’ focus areas should be.

This week after students walked out of class to protest police killings that were basically sanctioned by grand juries, a principal wrote a letter to parents that struck a tone of sanity, compassion and understanding.
