Hallelujah for today

January 3, 2015 / Marjorie Larner / What We Can Do

I’ve been noticing that while I’ve searched for words to write in this blog each day, I have started to hear a song in the background following  me as well.  I haven’t wanted to question or analyze why that song is with me. I think it is the opportunity to just listen, to get the beauty and memories that are evoked.

Today in Colorado with gentle snow, harsh cold, gray skies and rare quiet, Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah is running through my mind.  His original version– a poem with music in the early 80’s, covered years later by so many with beautiful sweet voices including the late Jeff Buckley. A lot changes in the delivery, in the interpretation of the same words and melody.

Everything we are comes through in what we do–whether it is singing or teaching.

Today I’m glad for the choice and the contrast.

the late Jeff Buckley
