Listen

May 8, 2015 / Marjorie Larner / What We Can Do

“Come on, girl. You know that isn’t the way it is. They aren’t going to listen to you in there.” High school student to friend outside of principal’s office.

I am looking for a way to ask some questions of the administrators in that school.

Who are you listening to? Why do you listen to them?

Who is sitting at the table in your office in the conversations about how to ‘fix’ the school and  the students, the teachers?

Who is not included in the conversations? Why aren’t they chosen to be heard?
