Power

August 21, 2015 / Marjorie Larner / What We Can Do

Like The Hundredth Monkey, the opt-out movement led by parents keeps growing to the point where there are large numbers of parents opting their children out of the tests in every part of the country.

And now  the threats made my government officials to mete out punishment have been walked back.

This has significant impact on our schools as threats included withholding funds, consequences for individual teachers, etc.

The question when you know something needs to stop is how do you personally calculate risk/benefit when you are one of the early ‘monkeys’ to take a stand–how do you trust that others will follow?

Or do you just get to a point where it doesn’t matter what will happen?

You have to do the  right thing.
