November 3, 2015 / Marjorie Larner / What We Can Do

“Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe.”
Frederick Douglass

Perhaps this is part of a human condition in the culture and society in which we live. If that is the case, then we know this is not about reaching a utopian vision, but to keep up the struggle against injustice, poverty and ignorance.

Schools play a key role in providing a model of a social structure if we can provide a just set of rules and procedures, resources and basic needs, and certainly opportunity to learn, think and find actions based on ethical principles.
